WINTER WASHING AN ART INSTALLATION by Peterborough Artist Charron Pugsley-Hill

09/12/2016

One day a few weeks ago I was painting in my studio and felt that someone was watching me. I looked up to see one of Father Christmas’s chief elves peering through his spectacles at me. I know who he was because I have actually met the real Father Christmas twice on visits to Lapland in the past. Imagine my surprise and shock when he relayed a message from the special man himself, asking if I would sprinkle a little magic for him in Ferry Meadows Peterborough as I am the Artist-in-Residence there. Now as my art is about happiness and smiles what else could I say except “I would be absolutely delighted to do that for Father Christmas”!!!! In a moment he had disappeared as magically as he had arrived!!!!What an honour to be asked to make something for Father Christmas himself!!And so I have sprinkled a little sparkle to some of the trees in the park hoping they will make you smile over the festive season.

When I met Father Christmas in Lapland it was snowing and Rudolph was tied up outside the cabin and the trees were covered in sparkling snow and the elves were making some of the children toys ready for Christmas eve and candles twinkled in all the windows and naughty elves were playing snowball fights with us and there were mince pies and Christmas treats laid on all the tables and hot chocolate was steaming in the glasses and happiness was everywhere! It was so magical and just added to my lifetimes love for the Christmas season!

And this is the story about the 3 little winter christmas washing lines that have appeared in the park for you to see whilst out walking.
